I haven't blogged for a while so I've not mentioned that over the last year or so I've got really into a game called Netrunner. I am also the proud owner of a new(ish) Pebble Time, having owned the original Pebble for the last couple of years as well. The obvious way to combine these things was to make a Netrunner app for the Pebble, so that's exactly what I did.

A Pebble in the Netrunner universe

Using click trackers when playing Netrunner can be pretty important, especially at tournaments. After 5 or 6 hours of solid Netrunner when your brain starts dribbling out your ears it's very easy to completely lose track of what's going on. I'd been using physical click trackers for a while when it occured to me that having one on my wrist would be pretty great, as well as full of flavour!

Starting with that goal it also occured to me that with a computer on your wrist there are a few other obviously useful features… I'd started rolling a die to randomise hand access and there was no reason why that shouldn't also be possible with the Pebble. As well as that, the Pebble is ultimately a clock so I've also recently added a round timer to the app.

The result is a Netrunner assistant for your wrist featuring a click tracker, random number generator and round timer. It supports the original Pebble models as well as new the newer Pebbles with colour screens.

You'll find PebRunner in the Pebble store if you search for Netrunner and the project is also up on GitHub. That page is kept up to date with screenshots and features and it's also a great place for feedback! You can open an issue to let me know if you find any bugs or if there are any features you'd like to see added to the app. I'd also love to see Pull Requests if you fancy rolling your sleeves up.

I use the app very regularly so I'm keenly aware that there's plenty of room for improvement. There are a few more features in the pipeline and the design needs a bit of work (suggestions welcome!), but I've had a lot of fun building it.

I hope you enjoy it!
